While at the Orange Table, she mentioned Crisis Nursery to the general manager, and together they decided to do a fundraising event for our programs. November 17^th from 6:30-9:00pm the Orange 35 paintings made by children at our Children's Shelter will be offered up for a minimum of $20, with additional donations accepted. The event will feature a raffle, live music, win, appetizers and more. A minimum donation is required to attend.

"Crisis Nursery is an awesome place, and I want proceeds to go to the children for the holidays. It's our Arizona kids, and I want people to care and for the kids to have a great holiday," Abby said. Cory Moreno will be opening the luncheon with singing Enrique Iglesias's Hero in honor of all the heroes present. Cory was previously a child in our Foster Care program who was later adopted by his foster parents.His parents have been fostering for 16 years. Cory was featured on FOX 10's The X Factor Fast-Pass Audition -  to view a video of him singing, click here. He was recently in our offices and he brought several of our staff to tears. Cindy Rust, a volunteer Pediatric Nurse Practitioner who's been with Crisis Nursery for over 10 years, will give a testimonial regarding her experiences and our services. A moment of silence will also be observed as we feature a small memorial for the children of Maricopa Country we have lost this year to child abuse/neglect.

We are now just six hours away from the expiration of our partnership with Groupon. Currently, we're at 213 donations - 87 away from our ultimate goal of 300, or $3,000 that would got toward our Children's Shelter. We've been trying as hard as we can to email, Facebook, and Tweet our supporters to both get the word out to friends and to donate themselves. Everyone in the office has been incredibly excited for this week because of the tremendous opportunity our time on Groupon gives us. The staff at the Children's Shelter have been anxiously watching the count on Groupon's website in hopes of being able to give more to their respite/shelter kids.

Yesterday we hit the tipping point on our Groupon campaign within hours of its launch! While we're excited about the promise to provide services for five children, it's just a start. Those five children would only receive services for a single day, based off the tipping point; it does not account for the fact that many of our children require our resources for weeks, months, and (in some cases, like one boy who's been with us for most of his life) years. This also does not account for the fact that we regularly, unfortunately, have to turn children/families away because our beds are taken by children from the Department of Public Safety, leaving local kids without a chance.
