Crisis Nursery

For over 32 years, Crisis Nursery has provided hope and support for over 16,000 children and their families.  With the mission of breaking the cycle of child abuse and neglect, their programs offer a safe and nurturing environment for children and provide families with the help, support and encouragement they need to overcome issues that put their children at risk for abuse, neglect or homelessness.  Our programs include the following:

  • Family Respite Services are provided to children whose families are in crisis.  Each child is cared for by well-trained, nurturing staff and provided with nutritious food; a stimulating daily routine; developmentally appropriate children’s programming; and referrals to resources to help cope with emergencies or crisis.
  • FACES (Families and Children Experiencing Success) is a daytime early childhood program for at-risk children ages 1-5.  This program promotes resiliency skills in children, teaches parents about child development and models positive parenting skills that benefit children and their families.
  • Foster Family Program’s goal is to place children into positive and nurturing temporary homes until they can return to their birth families or adopted by a new family. Foster families are provided with the preparation, support and resources needed to make the experience a success for everyone.
  • Healthy Families is a home-based, voluntary program of Southwest Human Development housed at Crisis Nursery whose goal is to strengthen families who are at-risk of abuse or neglect during pregnancy and the first five years of a child’s life.
