April 15, 2009 – Crisis Nursery is honoring young children and all those who make a difference in children’s lives by observing the annual national celebration, Week of the Young Child (April 19-25, 2009). Week of the Young Child is an opportunity for early childhood programs across the country, including child care and Head Start programs, preschools and elementary schools, to hold activities to bring awareness to the needs of young children.
“All young children need and deserve high-quality early learning experiences that will prepare them for life, and Crisis Nursery provides great opportunity to help young children and their families to succeed in life,” said Marsha Porter, Executive Director. “Week of the Young Child is time to recognize the importance of early learning for all young children, and to raise awareness in order to help give all young children a great start.”
Crisis Nursery is celebrating this week with fun and interactive learning opportunities for the at risk children served through their programs. Their parents are encouraged to also get involved in the learning process. All the activities from the supplies and labor were donated by individuals and groups in the community.

Young children and their families depend on high-quality education and care, which help children get a great start, and bring lasting benefits to our community. For the at risk families that Crisis Nursery serves, early childhood education and parental involvement are important to ensuring that our most vulnerable population overcome obstacles that put their families at risk for abuse, neglect and homelessness and succeed in life.
