The Valley's longest-serving Children's Shelter provides a safe haven for children threatened with abuse and neglect and a life-line for parents facing emergencies that pose risks to their children's well-being.
Shelter staff is available 24/7 to respond to inquiries and accept admissions. Both overnight stays and day respite services are available for children from birth to 8 years of age on an emergency or planned basis. Length of stay is based on the individual needs of each child and family.
All children placed at our shelter receive:
Medical Services:
- A health assessment is completed by our staff at the time of admission
- A medical exam and treatment as needed by our on-site nurse practitioner
- Immunizations are given to children whose vaccinations are not up-to-date
- Medical, dental, and other specialty referrals throughout the child's stay
Social/Behavioral Services:- Development screenings and assessments
- Age appropriate recreational/play activities and programs that stimulate physical, cognitive and emotional/social growth
- Individualized and small group sessions tailored to the emotional, behavioral and cognitive needs of each child
Education Services:- On-site infant/toddler and preschool early childhood education programs
- For school age children, transportation to home school or enrollment in our neighborhood elementary school within five days of placement
- Individualized tutoring services to help children catch up and keep current with school work
